OUR SPACE

Incite Dance Center is a woman-and-queer-owned family business. We opened in June 2021 in Skokie, Illinois.

Here’s everything you need to know about our space.

We acknowledge we are on unceded land originally inhabited by Indigenous peoples — specifically the Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo), Peoria, Bodéwadmiakiwen (Potawatomi), Myaamia, and Očhéthi Šakówiŋ peoples — before these nations were forcibly removed from this area. Chicago has acted as a gathering place for Indigenous peoples for thousands of years and it is currently home to the third-largest urban Indigenous community. Look what we’ve made!

We started from scratch in a 1965 building with the dream of making a space where everyone will be welcomed, nurtured, and challenged! This is what we prioritized-

  • BIG STUDIOS

Three professionally-sized studios (each over 1000 sq ft, the largest being 1400 sq ft) equipped with 8 ft mirrors and marley sprung floors.

  • ENERGY EFFICIENCY

State-of-the-art new HVAC system and energy efficient bathrooms. We plan to be run entirely by solar energy by 2026.

  • COMMUNITY-BUILDING

A community lobby, a dancer lobby, and observational windows! Parents and students encouraged to be inspired by watching other dancers.

  • SAFETY & HYGIENE

Contact-free bathrooms and strict daily and weekly cleaning protocols.

  • ACCESSIBILITY

Gender neutral dress code and bathrooms. ADA accessible ramps, bathrooms, and studios. Free menstrual products in our bathrooms. Contact us for any further accessibility needs!

  • INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGY

Color-changing ceiling lights, brand new digital learning setups, a FANTASTIC sound system. Cue the bass.

We use vendors we can fully stand behind.
